Sure, she’s got some weaknesses, but the great thing about Purna is her rage and Fury tree. It becomes easy to avoid her for this very reason, but by doing so you’re overlooking probably the most balanced character in the entire game. After all, she’s a guns expert, and you only get pistols for a good initial part of the game. When you look at Purna for the first time around, you’ll probably think she’s very weak and unsuited for the threats of Dead Island.
